Rich Raposa has posted on the Elastic Discuss Forums to mention that there have been a few subjects removed from the certification exam objectives.
The following topics are no longer covered:
- Pipeline aggregations
- Scroll API
- Parent/child
I can understand removing parent/child (joins) as even Elastic themselves recommend not using the feature and I can see it being deprecated at some stage.
The Scroll API is a very handy, commonly used feature but is difficult to use outside of a software development setting. I consider it a very important API to know but I can understand why it has been removed from an Elasticsearch exam.
Pipeline aggregations can be an incredibly useful feature; I’ve got at least one question in the next round of Olympics dataset exercises where you’ll need a pipeline aggregation! Hence I was really curious about the reasoning for removing Pipeline aggregations from the exam. Rick has clarified that it’s because the topic isn’t taught in the official training any longer as there’s not enough time to cover it properly. That’s a shame.
The exam objectives have been updated.
